Sanctus Parvulus

SATB with divisi

There were many moments in my freshman year of college where I would be in our music building into the late hours of the night. One of my favorite moments of the day would occur at 11:30 pm, when I would finally leave the building and walk in silence, underneath all the stars, back to my room.

The stars have always been fascinating and beautiful to me. Their silence, soft glow and comfort have always been inspiring to me. I am a very religious individual and often times I would think about what it was like on the night of Christ’s birth. How silent it must have been under all those stars and how peaceful the world must have been for those few moments. My goal in this song was to capture the tranquility and majesty of that very moment. For the first time in a long time, the world was able to take a breath of relief, ”for there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior.”

Sanctus Parvulus (Holy Child)

HOLY, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of Thy glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Amen
