
This is a unique opportunity to win a free choral commission and collaborate with me! This is a one-time offer typicically costing $2000, entirely free. Over the last decade I have had the pleasure of collaborating on 50 commissions and writing popular titles such as Always Keep This Close and Hope.

- Must be involved with a choir (as a conductor, vocalist, board member, or instrumentalist).
- One entry per email subscription.
- The winning choir must provide a recording of the final product.
- Open internationally.

HOW TO ENTER:

- Subscribe to Zach’s email list below. The contest will close July 31, 2025.

PRIZE:

- A choral commission between 50 – 70 measures in length for the Spring of 2026.
- 1-4 vocal staves.
- Commission will be delivered January 5, 2026
- Either a cappella or accompanied by one instrument.
- Includes a zoom call between the composer and choir.
- A dedication to the choir and director at the top of the score.
- The text will ultimately be decided by the composer after speaking with the director but can be negotiated.

THE RESULTS:

- A drawing will occur in late August of 2025 and the winner will be contacted (with the email they subscribed with) August 15th of 2025. The winner must accept their prize within a week of the email being sent and must also provide details of the choir and director the piece will be for. Also, the choir director of the participating ensemble must verbally agree with Zach (within a week of the winner accepting the prize) to participate and comply with all specified rules stated in this drawing.
- An announcement will then be made public on social media and in an email blast to all subscribers.

- If I was interested in hiring you as a commissioned composer should I wait until I hear the results of the contest? - NO, secure your spot now (because I only have so many spots available). If you win the contest, we can use your win as your form of payment.
- What if we already commissioned you and win this contest, can I exchange for a free commission? - Yes, so long as the project is the exact same parameters listed under the prize
- What if I want you to attend the premiere or clinic in person?- This can be negotiated but will cost extra.
- What if I just want to subscribe and don't want a commission?- You can always turn down the prize, no hard feelings. 🙂
