II: DANCE WITH ME
For SSATB with percussion
Sheet Music
Available for SSATB with percussion through MusicSpoke.
ABOUT THE COMPOSITION:
This piece is inspired by dance and how it connects us to the surrounding world as well as our heritage. Through dance we can connect to our past, present, and future by embodying traditions passed down to us from generation to generation. We can also learn to be respectful and understanding of others when we experience new forms of dance that connect us to the larger world.
Dance is a type of universal language, an expression of the human spirit through movement that every person is entitled to. It transcends social and political divisions and teaching us to love and respect one another. When we dance, we move with the world (its past, present and future) as one human collective. We dance as one.
Although not required, it is strongly encouraged to incorporate movement with the performance of this composition. Musically, this piece is heavily influence by club music, which is a broad range of electronic genres and a melting pot of musical tradition and dance.

TEXT
Dance with me my former self,
Dance with me all my relatives,
My ancestors, dance with me,
My present other selves.
