ABOUT THE COMPOSITION:
To be a stranger is to feel as though one does not belong. This can stem from many causes, both physical and psychological. I believe many of us carry these feelings and long for belonging, yet often choose not to share them. In this composition, I sought to capture that quiet internal plea through the chant-like, sorrowful opening and the aleatoric build into homophony.

It is important to remember, however, that feeling like a stranger does not mean we are alone. Ironically, we often feel isolated when others around us may be feeling the same way. Remember to be kind, keep an open heart, and love one another.

I WAS A STRANGER

For I was hungry,
You fed me,
I was thirsty
You gave me drink,
I was a stranger
You brought me in,
For I was naked
You clothed me,
I was sick and imprisoned,
You visited me.
I was a stranger,
You brought me in.
